MOVING AROUND HAKUBA

Popular choices to get here are:

  • JR Limited Express Azusa direct from Shinjuku
  • JR Oito line from Matsumoto
  • Shinkansen to Nagano station and use direct bus.
  • Highway buses from Tokyo or Nagoya areas.

Note that this area is quiet in the off-seasons. Many of the limited express Azusa trains to this area operate during peak seasons only.

There are also many scheduled charter buses from Tokyo or Nagoya areas which goes directly to the ski resorts. These buses are open to general public but must be reserved in advance.

TATEYAMA KUROBE ALPEN ROUTE

The Tateyama Kurobe Alpen Route connects two cities of Omachi (Nagano prefecture) and Toyama (Toyama prefecture). Anyone can enjoy the alpine view without any preparation for trekking. (April 10 to November 30 only)

You may just go to Kuroyon Dam from Omachi and come back. More exciting itinerary is to go through range to Toyama by changing various transportations.
