TIPS FOR USING HIGHWAY BUSES

Highway bus carries passengers from one area directly to the destination area. This means the bus runs without loading or unloading passengers between these two areas.

You need to reserve your ticket in advance or purchase it at a ticket counter. Most lines provide internet reservation. If you reserved ticket on the internet, you can pay the driver upon boarding the bus. Driver may even accept passengers without reservations if the bus has enough vacant seats.

Because most of the service is relatively short, there is no night bus service except some out-bound buses leaving fron Tokyo late at night and arriving at destination resort places in the early morning. (such as Sawayaka Shinshu lines)

There are also many cheap charter buses available for indivisuals on busy days. You may find these on the internet.

If you purchase a round-trip ticket, then you can get some discount.

In most cases credit cards are not accepted for the purchase of tickets.
