COMING FROM NAGOYA OR NAGOYA AIRPORT TO SHINSHU

Nagoya Airport is also known as Centrair, and it was completed in 2005 to accommodate the 2005 World Expo in Aichi. Though not as many flights as Narita, Centrair is a clean and convenient airport.

LIMITED EXPESS SHINANO timetable (as of March 15, 2008.)

FROM NAGOYA CITY TO SHINSHU (Matsumoto and Nagano)

Nagoya is conveniently connected to Shinshu with the Limited Express Shinano which runs every hour.

Nagoya is also on the Shinkansen line, if you are coming from / going to Kyoto or Osaka, you are most likely to change at Nagoya.

If you are going beyond Nagoya to Kyoto or Osaka by Shinkansen, the limited express ticket for Shinano will be reduced. To receive this benefit, you need to buy tickets in advance. (Not available on board)

Direct highway bus services from Meitetsu Bus Terminal (adjacent to JR Nagoya station) are available to Nagano, Matsumoto or Iida-Ina areas. No bus to Suwa-Chino area.

FROM NAGOYA AIRPORT (Centrair) TO SHINSHU (Matsumoto and Nagano)

Centrair is served by Meitetsu trains but not JR. Some Meitetsu trains go to Nagoya station while some terminate at Kanayama station.

If you are taking the JR Express Shinano for Matsumoto and Nagano, you need to change to the JR line either at Kanayama station or Nagoya station. However, Shinano does not stop at Kanayama, so you need to catch a local train to Chikusa and transfer to the Shinano.

Direct highway bus from Centrair goes to Matsumoto and Nagano, however the service is limited. Door to door shuttle is also available for Nagano and Suwa areas.
